Ability Implements

Each class chooses three implements of their abilities as part of their class definition: Primary, Secondary, Tertiary.

Weapons

These involve direct combat implements used for offensive capabilities.

  • Melee Weapons: Swords, Axes, Maces, Spears
  • Ranged Weapons: Bows, Crossbows, Guns
  • Exotic Weapons: Chakrams, Whips, Bolas

Accessories

Items integrated into the character’s wearables or outfit.

  • Protection Gear: Armor imbued with enchantments, Bodysuits with shielding tech.
  • Accessories: Amulets, Rings, Cloaks each enchanted or embedded with tech to provide abilities.
  • instruments: Musical instruments, tools, or other non-magical items used to channel abilities.

Focus

These are magical tools used specifically for casting spells or magical abilities.

  • Wands, Staves, Rods: Common in low tech, they translate just as easily to laser wands or mechanical rods in higher tech.
  • Symbols, Holy Books: Used by divine casters to channel their deities’ power.
  • Orbs, Scrolls, Crystal Balls: For scrying, invoking arcane powers, or divination.

Constructs

Mechanisms, engineered constructs, or artificial imbuements depending on class tradition.

  • Mechanical/Gadgetry: Clockwork machines, Personal drones, Hacking interfaces, siege weapons.
  • Augmented Reality Devices: Interfaces for projecting holograms or controlling networks.
  • Crafts & Grafts: Bio-mechanic appendages, Alchemical implants, Genetically modifiable constructs.

Materials

Single-use or limited-time effects to achieve power usage.

  • Potions, Elixirs: Healing brews, Buff tonics.
  • Scrolls, Tags: Spell tags for quick invocations.
  • Bombs and Traps: Crafted explosives, energy grenades.

Companions

Companions are sentient beings, creatures, or entities that aid and augment the character’s abilities in various ways. These companions can either fight alongside their masters, offer support, or provide utility benefits.

  • Animal Companions: Pets, Mounts, Familiars.
  • Spirit Companions: Ghosts, Elementals, Fey beings.
  • Construct Companions: Golems, Animated objects, Robots.
  • Summoned Creatures: Temporary beings from other planes or realities.
  • Bound Entities: Symbiotic or parasitic beings providing power.

Techniques

Characters utilize advanced training, skills, or techniques that don’t rely primarily on external tools but on their abilities and expertise.

  • Martial Arts: Advanced combat moves, Unarmed combat.
  • Stealth Techniques: Invisibility, Evasion, Lockpicking.
  • Artistic Expression: Music, Dance, Oratory, used to cast or enchant.
  • Social Skills: Persuasion, Intimidation, Deception.

Environments

These abilities involve altering or harnessing the environment directly to combat or aid in various scenarios.

  • Terrain Manipulation: Creating pitfalls, altering landscapes.
  • Weather Control: Storms, Rain, Snow.
  • Elemental Manipulation: Commanding earth, fire, water, or air.
